Pretty much this time last year I first met Cheryl and Roy. I went to their house in Carlby to discuss options for their day. At the time I had a very limited portfolio of weddings, so, and they know this, I was very nervous. I genuinely needn’t have been. From the moment I walked in they made me feel so welcome, and we just clicked. I was very excited as they were planning their day to be at Barnsdale Lodge, which is a lovely venue. I thought the meeting was going pretty well, I knew they were speaking to a few photographers so I thought they’d let me know within time – however, they booked me on the spot!
After that we kept in regular contact, and before long the big day came around. Carlby is a very close-knit village, when I arrived in the morning the bridal party were all walking around the village looking at the signs which the residents had put out celebrating the day – so sweet! Lots of family members were present for the prep, the house was a hive of activity with florists dropping flowers off and residents popping by to say congratulations. I also took time to nip and see Roy round the corner, much less activity there, him and his groomsmen were relaxing, smoking cigars and ironing – Roy was pretty nervous though.
Carlby church is a really nice setting for a wedding, and the guests all looked great. It all went without a hitch, apart from the vicar accidentally dropping the rings… everyone saw the funny side though and they were married!
We all headed over to the beautiful Barnsdale Lodge, Rutland, where arrival drinks and nibbles were being served in the courtyard, after some mingling and fun group shots I headed in to the main room to get some detail shots – and my word there were a lot of details. Roy and Cheryl both enjoy Game of Thrones so decided to add touches of this throughout, the team at Barnsdale Lodge also did a cracking job as always of making the room look stunning. The best man, Gel, was the most nervous I’ve ever seen anyone ever about giving his speech. He got some touching words out though, and it was clear to see that both Cheryl and Roy are highly regarded by their friends and family.
Another beautiful first dance, made even more beautiful by the backdrop and it was time to call it a day. Genuinely the nicest couple I’ve met, and I look forward to doing my next Barnsdale Lodge Wedding!
