Mr and Mrs Barker // RUTLAND WEDDING
I covered another fabulous Rutland wedding last year, in Exton, Rutland. The ceremony happened at Exton church, which is one of the most beautiful I’ve worked in – it also has the benefit of being directly next to Exton Park, where the rest of the day took place.
If you’re planning a Rutland wedding, you’re spoilt for choice with locations, but I highly recommend looking at Exton Park. It’s such a glorious setting, the gardens, the steps, water features – it really is beautiful.
There were so many personal touches at this wedding, the use of Sam’s grandfather’s vintage cars, the old Barker’s signs company van, his uncle doing a flyover (which I was a little worried was going to be a fly into as he was pretty low…) – these are the sort of things which make a wedding. The speeches were great, including the guitar solo from the best man.
After the meal and speeches were done we had a chance to go for a little walk around the grounds and take advantage of the beautiful light to get some couple shots.
Over to Sam and Katy to tell us a little more about the day.

We met around 9 years ago at secondary school. Sam was a “popular kid” and I was a “nerd”. We first started talking on good old msn when he messaged me by accident, the rest is history.

Sam surprised me with a romantic weekend break in Oxford where he popped the question.

I always wanted a Spring wedding, but with Sam proposing in October there wasn’t enough time to organise and I wasn’t waiting a year and a half! So one night in the pub we randomly picked the 14th July 2018.

We both fell in love with it at first sight. It was grand and different to what other family members had done so we knew we could put our own touches on it.

Don’t listen to anyone, do what you want as a couple. Always budget for more than you think as the temptation is just too hard!
