Boston Wedding Photographer – Granary Barn Wedding
Being a Boston wedding photographer is fun, especially when you get to shoot a Granary Barn wedding. There are many great venues in and around Boston – this was the first time I had shot at the Granary Barn though, I was completely blown away. It’s a stunning venue, and I love barn weddings.
Abbey and Simon had an amazing day full of love and laughter. Abbey and the bridal party got ready in one of the attached cottages, while Simon and his best man were in another. The venue is laid out really well to make sure the day flows exactly as it should, it also provides a beautiful backdrop for your relaxed, natural photographs.

In the Area – Boston
Boston is a port and market town in Lincolnshire. The most notable landmark, which dominates the view for miles, is St Botolph’s church, also known as ‘The Stump’. Boston is surrounded by the flat lands of the Fens, and is notable for its food production – mainly potatoes and vegetables. They do a mean sausage too!
Aside from The Stump, there are many other notable landmarks; The Grand Sluice is disguised by railway and road bridges, but it acts to keep the tide out of the Fens. The Maud Foster Tower Windmill, completed in 1819, was extensively restored in the late 1980s and is now a working mill again. It is unusual in having an odd number (five) of sails. The ruined Hussey Tower is all that remains of a mediaeval brick-fortified house, it was built in 1450. Rochford Tower is another medieval tower house.
The annual Boston May Fair has been held in the town since 1125 – it’s held during the first week of May and is one of the few remaining fairs in England to still be held in the town centre.
Boston is a vibrant town, with much history and heritage – it is also home to many beautiful wedding venues. Here are a small selection which are in the town itself, but also in the Boston area. Dream Castle, The Poachers Country Hotel, The Petwood Hotel, Stourton Estates and the beautiful Scrivelsby Walled Garden.
Award Winning Photography
The image of the gentleman on the dance floor led me to win an award over at Photographers Keeping it Real – and contributed to me being named by them as one of the top 20 documentary photographers in the country.
There are so many beautiful spots for photography at the Granary Barn – the barn itself is just awesome, full of light and tall ceilings lend themselves to interesting compositions and angles. The outdoor areas are also great, with a mixture of green areas for some relaxed, natural couple portraits. The enclosed courtyard is a great space for a drinks reception; your guests will love to relax while I use a wide angle lens to really use the photographs to tell the story of your day.
Weddings in the Barn
The Granary Wedding Barn is a beautiful early 18th century Grade II Listed Barn with a vaulted roof, exposed brickwork and original beams.
The Granary, a traditional Lincolnshire Barn just outside of Boston, is licensed for Civil Ceremonies with the wedding barn and cottage accommodation both set around a pretty courtyard garden. Couples and wedding guests will enjoy a pre wedding get-together on the Friday evening. After your ceremony or church wedding on the Saturday, celebrate with drinks and delicious canapés in the courtyard before sitting down for your wedding breakfast in the beautiful Granary barn.
The rear of the barn is lined with lights, which really stand out against the brick wall – creating an excellent backdrop for your first dance as a married couple.
