Rutland Wedding Venues
Wedding Venues in Rutland | BGS Weddings
Looking for a perfect wedding venue in Rutland? Chances are, it will be somewhere on this page.
It’s a beautiful county, and, considering there’s around fifteen people who live in it, there’s some amazing wedding venues. Most of these I’ve worked at, some I haven’t. Working at a venue before is something you’ll often read about in blogs as one of the “must ask questions” to photographers – which is complete pish. I’m confident of working in any venue and getting beautiful results.
Also, I’d love to work at any of these venues, as it means I can be home in time for the X Factor. Not really, I don’t watch that. But you get the idea.
Also, some of these venues are slightly out of Rutland, this was intentional as it’s tiny.
I’d love to hear from you about your plans – get in touch today to see how I can fit in with your plans.
The Great Hall of Oakham Castle is a beautiful and dramatic setting for your perfect wedding.
The Shed (13m x 6m) seats 60 people for a wedding breakfast (up to 100 in the evening). They provide tables, chairs and lighting, they’re child friendly, pet friendly, and… well… friendly people who will help out in whatever way they can. After your wedding ceremony, you can have welcome drinks and canapés in the courtyard, this space is directly in between the shed and the big barn (more on that in a bit), meaning your guests don’t have to wander around and get lost, it all just makes sense
You could also use the courtyard for your ceremony, or even the wedding breakfast if you so wish. Outdoor speeches are always great, they really have a different feeling to them. Fancy having your first dance outdoors? (which you definitely should) The end of the courtyard has a covered space which houses the bar, and an area for a live band or DJ to set up in.
As I’ve always said, your wedding should be about YOU, The Old Cow Shed really is an excellent backdrop to whatever your imagination can plan.
Ok, so this isn’t necessarily a venue, but it still deserves a mention. For those getting married at Normanton Church, there’s a dock right outside. You can take a private tour around Rutland water after your ceremony with your guests; they also serve welcome drinks and canapes.
It’s a really great experience, and well worth a look!
Barnsdale Lodge, Rutland is the perfect place to host your special day. Encircled by idyllic surroundings on the north shore of Rutland Water and with a personal service that’s second to none. Whether you’re planning to pull out all the stops with a guest list of 180 or a more intimate, cosy affair, their experienced staff are on hand with their skills, talent and enthusiasm to ensure that every moment will be utterly magical and truly unforgettable.
The hotel has a choice of private function rooms, enabling it to accommodate a wedding from 20 to 180 guests. They also have several well-proportioned rooms that are licensed for civil ceremonies, as well as the stunning Fort Henry, Normanton Church and Exton Park, just a couple of miles from the hotel.
Exton Park is situated in the heart of Rutland close to the A1, north of Rutland Water between Oakham and Stamford, 30 minutes from Leicester and Peterborough. It is principally the private home of Viscount Campden, his wife and their three children. The Hall, on Exton Park, not normally open to the public, provides a beautiful, peaceful and above all quintessential English setting for a limited number of weddings and events.
Exton Estate contains several different areas, which means that whatever wedding you are planning they can cater for your requirements. You can have a civil ceremony at Fort Henry, a religious ceremony at the catholic chapel within Exton Park. The grounds of the park offer a beautiful setting to have a marquee wedding – and really make it your own.
A former hunting lodge, Barnsdale Hall Hotel today offers a wide variety of hotel, lodge and apartment holiday accommodation, restaurant and bar; as well as comprehensive conference services and wedding packages. Sailing, photography clubs, falconry, bird watching, fly fishing, golf, cycling, gardens and historic market towns such as Stamford, Oakham and Melton Mowbray are all close by.
First things first (my wife really hates when I say that); we need to talk about the room where Amy got ready. I say room, it’s a suite. I say suite, it’s more like an apartment. I say apartment, you get the idea… It’s amazing, not only because I could help myself to coffee, but the space, the light, the windows, the view. Barnsdale Hall has everything – brilliant!
Steeped in history, Rockingham Castle’s stunning buildings, ornate formal gardens and truly breathtaking views over the Welland Valley, provide a unique, picture-perfect wedding venue, which is all exclusively yours on your special day.
Whether your heart is set on a formal or relaxed experience, a grand celebration, or something more intimate, they cater for all, and their dedicated wedding team will work with you so that your wishes come true.
With Britain’s largest collection of individually designed gardens, Barnsdale Gardens is teeming with great ideas. The stunning gardens make for the perfect romantic day, with the wedding ceremony held in the purpose-built oak arbour, surrounded by spectacular planting with lots of room for your guests on the manicured lawn. The remainder of the gardens are also at your disposal for photographs for as long as you need.
The planning and packages at Barnsdale gardens are flexible, they aim to fit to your requirements. Whether you are looking for Champagne and canapés, a cream tea, traditional wedding breakfast. If you are looking for a ceremony venue, a ceremony and drinks package, or a location that can accommodate all of your celebrations, then they have the space and facilities for you.
I absolutely love being a Normanton Church Wedding Photographer; the fact that I live down the road plays a small part… however, Normanton church, set on the shores of Rutland Water, is truly spectacular – it is absolutely steeped in history and holds over 100 weddings per year, it’s easy to see why it’s one of the most popular wedding venues in the area. Read on to find out why I love photographing weddings here.

The ceremony rooms (and outside area) are spacious, and provide beautiful light for my compositions, the gardens speak for themselves – having a small break in the afternoon for a relaxed walk while I take informal couple portraits is a joy.
