I absolutely loved being a wedding photographer at The Old Hall, Ely.
People often contact me and ask “have you shot at my wedding before?” – and I always say the same thing; “it doesn’t really matter”. Every day is different; the weather, the guests, the styling, the light – all of it.
However, I do enjoy spending the day at a beautiful venue, and a beautiful wedding venue this is!
The Old Hall, Ely
The Old Hall is a superb country retreat within a mile of the heart of historic Ely in Cambridgeshire. This recently renovated Jacobean manor house, with stunning views over lakes to Ely Cathedral, offers all that is best in English Country House hospitality.
The Old Hall Ely in Cambridgeshire is renowned for its warm and welcoming atmosphere and is run entirely by the Morbey family, who have many years experience in hosting weddings. They pride themselves on being the opposite end of the spectrum from a hotel; to be totally exclusive, creative, flexible and personal. When we say The Old Hall is ‘exclusive use’, they really mean it: the house and gardens are yours for the day and night as well, thanks to their luxury Honeymoon Suite and guest bedrooms.
The Old Hall is a recently renovated Jacobean manor house, set in its own unique and historic estate of 3000 acres in the heart of Cambridgeshire. Since the Morbey family purchased the Cromwell Estate and house from The Bagge family in 1830, the estate has been developed by successive generations into a productive arable farm.
The present generation, Alison, and the LATE Anthony Morbey diversified the house in 2010 into a 5 Star gold Bed and Breakfast and an ‘Exclusive Use’ venue that is booked in its entirety for weddings, Christmas parties and private dinner parties.
Weddings at The Old Hall, Ely
If your preference is for a Civil Ceremony at The Old Hall, they offer two different options; the beautiful garden pavilion and the cosy Grand Hall. Following the Ceremony, the Bar and Cathedral Terrace create a wonderful open plan area and together with a stunning backdrop, your guests can enjoy the perfect Drinks Reception.
The quality of food is a priority at The Old Hall Ely and they are determined that the wedding feast lives long in the memory of everyone at your celebration. Consequently, they have enlisted the help of the Chef team to create food of a standard normally found in top quality restaurants. The Team are keen to work with you to create a menu exactly as you wish and are very responsive, with the expertise and experience to create your ultimate wedding feast, at extremely competitive prices.
After your breakfast, speeches and other activities are complete, it’s time for the evening celebration; a curtain is pulled back to reveal the dancing marquee – something which always amazes the guests.
