Earlier this year I was booked to be a Willow Marsh Farm wedding photographer; which was a first for me, definitely won’t be the last though!

The Willow Marsh Farm
The Willow Marsh Farm is an elegant and characterful boutique events space perfect for long weekend weddings. It is located in the rural East Midlands on the borders of Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Derbyshire.
The estate benefits from two onsite properties; the farm’s former milking parlour has been transformed into a bridal suite and preparation space, with three double bedrooms. Willow Marsh Farm cottage offers three further double bedrooms and dining and entertainment space for all your overnight guests.
This working farm sits within 160 acres of pasture, lakes and vibrant wild marshes that make for a truly unique setting – perfect for getting some amazing wedding photographs.
“In 2015 we got engaged. In the years following our engagement like every other couple we searched for our perfect wedding venue. We soon learnt that exclusivity was rare and what we wanted to create did not exist. What happened next started out as a dream sketched into a notepad and from the rubble of our old farm buildings we created something very special.”

Weddings at Willow Marsh Farm
The Grand Barn and Dining
The Grand Barn is licensed for civil ceremonies. Built as the farm’s winter machinery barn they have a large open area perfect for intimate ceremonies and an evening spent dancing the night away.
They can accommodate up to 120 seated guests for dining. Couples can choose between wooden benches or cross back chairs to use with their handmade banqueting tables (a thing of beauty in themselves). They can also cater for a further 60 evening guests.
The barn is a labyrinth of cosy corners and lounges for intimate chats and alternative dining options. The barn is tastefully decorated with period furniture and vintage lighting to create a timeless ambience.
The Bar
The antique bar is set within the Grand Barn. Staff will be on hand to chill and serve your drinks from behind the bar until last orders at midnight.
All drinks can be purchased and supplied by The Willow Marsh Farm. Alternatively, you can supply your own sparkling wine for afternoon drinks reception and table wine until the end of the wedding breakfast. You can also dry hire the bar.
The Terrace
The south facing stone terrace follows the sun around The Grand Barn creating the perfect outdoor space for dancing, dining or sipping champagne. The ornamental cast iron pergola at the rear allows the space to be covered for protection against the rain or sun allowing year round use of the outdoors and views of the estate. Draped in chandeliers, the ambient light means the terrace can be enjoyed into the evening.
The Farm
Set in 160 acres of rolling grassland, lakes and marshes, the farm is completely unique. Their marshes and lakes are bursting with bright green botanicals that make for incredible photography on your wedding day, using golden hour light to create some stunning memories for you to treasure forever.
The farm is situated on the borders of Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire & Derbyshire in the heart of the rural East Midlands. Loughborough train station is only a 10 minute journey South, meaning you can get directly to London in one hour.
The Staff
Much like I always say that the guests make a wedding; the staff really do make a venue. From the moment I arrived I was welcomed, offered a coffee (they must have read my rider..). Simon, Jim, and the whole team were so friendly and approachable throughout the day – keeping in excellent contact and ensuring that we all worked together to make sure the couple had the best day possible.
The best man, amongst others, commented to me on how beautiful the venue was – they had even more praise for the Willow Marsh Farm staff, everyone was impressed with the care and level of detail taken by all.
Natural Wedding Photography at Willow Marsh Farm
As you know, I specialise in taking natural, unobtrusive, unposed, wedding images. I like to fit in with your guests (my justification for eating the canapes) and often go home feeling like part of the family.
Throughout the day I will use a variety of approaches to document the day. Wide angle and telephoto lenses help me to achieve this. Using a variety of compositions and post processing crops I will make sure you have beautiful images from your amazing wedding day at Willow Marsh Farm.
