Rutland Wedding Photographer

Welcome to BGS Wedding Photography – My name is Barnaby, and I am a Rutland wedding photographer.

I take a natural, relaxed, approach to photographing a wedding, I work in a way that means you don’t even need to think about your wedding photography on the day. Don’t worry about ‘photo opportunities’; just have an awesome day, and I’ll be there to document it.

I love working with couples from Rutland and throughout the UK who want ‘real’ images, no awkward posing or faffing around – natural wedding photography is best!

As I said, I’m based in the tiny county of Rutland, but I’ll travel anywhere in the country really (which is lucky, because Rutland has a population of about 48 people, and I’m pretty sure they’re all already married)

I pride myself on anticipating moments and being in the right place to photograph them; if this sounds like the sort of wedding photography you would like, then get in touch to discuss your plans. You can also keep up with my work on Instagram

Wedding Photography from rutland and beyond

Whilst I am based in Rutland, if I limited myself to only Rutland wedding venues then all of my children would starve (it’s a tiny place, and I have a lot of children – read more about me here)

We do have some lovely wedding venues in Rutland, but, there are so many beautiful wedding venues all over the country, which I love working at. I also love working at new venues. You may have read on a blog somewhere, which tells you the ‘most important things to ask your wedding photographer’, to ask if they’ve shot at your venue before. To find out why it doesn’t matter, head over to my FAQ to find out why that’s nonsense.

I don’t mind a drive, I charge a little for travel and overnight accommodation for anything over two hours away (mainly, so I’ll be fresh and ready to photograph your wedding the next day), but it will be worth it – Promise!

This job has taken me all over the country, documenting some amazing weddings, in awesome venues – attended by really lovely people. If you have any questions regarding me travelling to your wedding then get in touch!

make your wedding photography, yours

I don’t tell people what to do, or where to go, or how to be. I just capture people being people.

be traditionally, non-traditional

Weddings are full of traditions, which is all well and good, but actually, it is you who is getting married. It should reflect you and your partner’s personalities.

If you want a huge wedding cake (yummy) then do that, if you want a big cheese platter instead (extra yummy!) then do that.

Do the speeches first, do them last, don’t have a first dance, have your bridesmaid be your best man and walk you down the aisle.

The most important thing is that you love each other, exchange vows, and celebrate with your closest friends and family.

I want to document YOUR day, not the day you think you should have.

Weddings are emotional times – it’s my job to photograph that emotion in the most authentic way possible.

What Couples say about their Rutland wedding photographer

Nothing tells the story better than the words of couples whose weddings I have photographed. Here’s what brides, grooms and guests have said about working with me as their wedding photographer.

Your Rutland Wedding Photographer FAQ

If you have any other questions then I’d love to hear from you – get in touch.

The sooner the better. Most couples book 12–18 months ahead, especially for popular venues like Normanton Church and Rutland Water. If your date’s close, it’s still worth asking — I sometimes have last-minute availability.

Nope — while Rutland is home, I cover weddings all over the UK. If you’re planning a big day further afield, I’m happy to travel.

Relaxed, candid, documentary. I don’t spend the day telling people what to do — I blend in like a guest and capture the real story as it unfolds. The result: natural, storytelling images without awkward posing.

If you’d like some, then yes — I suggest around five group shots. That’s usually enough to cover the key family combinations without it dragging on. I like to keep them quick so you can get back to the party (and I can eat some canapés).

You’ll get a preview gallery within a few days, so you’ve got something to share straight away. The full gallery is ready in around 8 weeks — worth the wait to relive the whole story.
