Rutland Wedding PhotographerBGS Weddings
Welcome to BGS Weddings – My name is Barney, and I am a Rutland wedding photographer based in Oakham, just down the road from Rutland Water. I also offer lincolnshire photography services as well as Cambridgeshire, Leicestershire, Northants and beyond! Hopefully you are looking for a wedding photographer to capture the moments from your amazing day. I take a natural, relaxed, approach to photographing a wedding, I always say to my couples that they should ‘do their thing’ and I’ll get some cool shots. I like natural, real, sometimes raw, images. I may ask you to stand in a particular place, because the light is amazing, but I don’t go in for many poses – like I said, natural wedding photography is best!
We’ve just had our wedding photos back from Barney and they are beautiful. He’s done a fantastic job of capturing the day. Worked under pressure with a tight schedule due to the groom having a puncture (long story!) but stayed totally chilled out.
Very good at putting everyone at ease, great with the children or difficult adults alike! And such a good eye for detail. Highly recommend. So much so, we’ve got another shoot booked for the children! Anybody looking for Lincolnshire photography should book him now!
Very happy with everything. Thank you Barney.
You’ll never hear me say the ‘s’ word. No, not that one, I say that one all the time. I’m talking about “smile”, no-one can look good when you tell them to smile. I pride myself on being able to capture natural, candid, moments as they happen.
Where are you based?
I describe myself as a Rutland Wedding Photographer, I like in Oakham, which is pretty near to Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Northamptonshire… Plus, it’s really close to the A1, so anywhere north or south isn’t much of an issue.
In short, if your wedding takes place anywhere kind of in the centre of England I can get there easily.
Or in Italy, I’d love to go there. So yeah, the middle (or north and south) of England, and Italy please.
Do we get all of our photos?
Definitely! The only photos I don’t deliver are mid-blinking, duplicates or unflattering photos that I know you won’t have any desire to print or have.
I don’t state a minimum (or maximum) as every day is unique, but for an average full day I would expect 350 high resolution, fully edited images.
I do not send RAW (un-edited) photos as you are hiring me for my editing style and trust that I will send all of the right photos.
How long will I have to wait?
Within a day or so you will receive a couple of preview images to keep you going, then I aim to deliver your final images within 6 weeks. Standard time in the industry is 6-12 weeks. I’m pretty proud that I can deliver high quality images in this time – and I definitely don’t rush or cut corners, I just photograph correctly and then do the finishing touches when editing.
I also have some pretty efficient systems (and loads and loads of less efficient ones), which help me to make your day a priority – I genuinely love editing nearly as much as taking the pictures.
How do you deliver images?
The first thing you will receive once the images are ready is a slideshow of my favourite 80 or so. This will be a broad range of images from the day and is a nice way for you both to see them for the first time. And you have to watch it together, no cheating!
After you have both seen the slideshow I will send you the link to your online gallery where you can view and share all of the images from the day. I will also email over the full resolution images for you to print as you wish, although you can’t use them commercially, you are free to print them however you wish.
Can we meet you?
Of course! It’s always a good idea to meet with someone who is going to be spending the entire day with you – it’s important we get on, and you realise how sarcastic I am. My relationship with you is a missive factor in being able to create the natural wedding photography I do.
When you contact me if you mention you’d like to meet up (no obligation to book, honest) then I’ll pick out a time in my diary that suits us all. There are plenty of nice coffee shops near me, especially at Rutland Water, or we can meet at your house, whatever is easiest.
If you happen to live a very long way away, like in Italy, then it might make sense for us to Skype/Facetime, that’s cool too.
Can we see a full gallery?
Most definitely, when you enquire I will send through some links to full days so you get an idea of what to expect.
In the meantime you can see my portfolio here
What's the booking process?
Please send a blank, signed, cheque to BGS Weddings, Oakham… only joking. I don’t take cheques.
Seriously though, it’s pretty simple; once you’re happy to book I’ll send out a form with a few key details on, you pay a 20% deposit to secure your date, then the balance is due within a week of your big day. In that time I will send out a questionnaire to help with all of the final timings etc and arrange an engagement shoot if applicable.
Feel free to message me in the meantime, I’m generally pretty responsive to messages, and I’ll always try to get back to you within a day or so.
How do you like your coffee?
How much do you charge?
I like to be transparent with pricing. For a full day, prep to just after the first dance, I charge £1050.
For that you will receive all of the images with printing rights, the online gallery, the slideshow and a warm feeling inside.
There’s always wiggle room with timings – if you don’t want prep and want me to stay a little later for fireworks or a sparkler exit, then that’s cool. If you want to start earlier because the plane to Italy lands early, then that’s also cool…
Do you offer discounts?
Yes and no.
I value the work I do, and I love working with people who share the same opinion. If your wedding is in the week (Mon-Fri) then I offer a reduced rate, occasionally I will offer something like a free engagement shoot or canvas. That’s pretty much it.
Having said that, if you have an exceptionally stunning venue that’s on my bucket list (ahem… Italy…) then feel free to ask – I won’t be offended, and you never know.
What's your favourite Tarantino film?
You wouldn’t believe how frequently I’m asked this.
Well, ok, maybe not that often. But still, Inglorious Basterds.
