Wreath Making Workshop at Sissons Barn

I spent an afternoon at Sissons Barn documenting The Country Garden Florist’s Christmas wreath making workshop, and it was exactly the kind of event I love shooting.

Watching people create something with their hands, seeing the concentration when they’re getting a detail just right, the satisfaction when a wreath comes together. This is what documentary photography is all about for me.

Documenting Craft and Process

The Country Garden Florist ran the workshop beautifully. Tables laden with fresh greenery, berries, eucalyptus, and all the tools needed to build something genuinely lovely. The barn’s natural light flooding through those huge windows made it perfect for photography.

What struck me was how quickly people relaxed into it. Hands working with wire and foliage, conversations flowing, the occasional laugh when something didn’t quite go to plan. These are real moments. Nothing staged, nothing forced.

Why I Love This Kind of Work

This is the same approach I bring to weddings in Cambridgeshire and across the East Midlands. I’m there to capture what actually happens, not to orchestrate it. Whether it’s a bride getting ready, a florist arranging centrepieces, or workshop attendees building wreaths, the principle is the same. Real people, real craft, real moments.

Sissons Barn continues to be one of my favourite venues to work at. The space works beautifully for both weddings and events like this. The team are always welcoming, and the venue itself just photographs brilliantly.

Supporting Local Wedding Suppliers

The Country Garden Florist creates stunning work for weddings across the region. If you’re planning a wedding and looking for a florist who understands seasonal, natural styling, Donna is definitely worth talking to!

Events like this remind me why I love working with creative people in the wedding industry. Everyone’s focused on making something beautiful, and I get to document the process.

All images from this workshop are available for The Country Garden Florist and Sissons Barn to use for their marketing. If you’d like to see more of my work documenting craft and celebration, browse my wedding portfolio.
