Wedding Photographer at Barnsdale Lodge

I love being a Barnsdale Lodge wedding photographer – it’s a beautiful location (which is only a few miles from my house). Sitting at the top of Barnsdale Hill, overlooking Rutland Water, and close by to many beautiful locations for a ceremony such as Fort Henry or Exton Park – it’s a really great venue to consider if you’re planning a wedding.

Take a look at a selection of photographs I have taken at the venue, and if you would like to discuss your wedding day plans then get in touch!

Barnsdale Lodge

Barnsdale Lodge, Rutland is the perfect place to host your special day. Encircled by idyllic surroundings on the north shore of Rutland Water and with a personal service that’s second to none. Whether you’re planning to pull out all the stops with a guest list of 180 or a more intimate, cosy affair, their experienced staff are on hand with their skills, talent and enthusiasm to ensure that every moment will be utterly magical and truly unforgettable.

The hotel has a choice of private function rooms, enabling it to accommodate a wedding from 20 to 180 guests. They also have several well-proportioned rooms that are licensed for civil ceremonies, as well as the stunning Fort Henry, Normanton Church and Exton Park, just a couple of miles from the hotel.

Photography Locations

Alongside the great barn and courtyard gardens, there are some really great locations within the grounds for natural photography. There’s a wild garden at the rear which is ideal for taking a relaxed walk through as I take some informal couple’s portraits. I like to use a nice wide angled lens so I can take a lot of the environment of the venue in, as well as using a variety of compositions and angles to ensure your images are stunning.

The Wedding Day

They have a personal events organiser who will work with you to discuss your plans and help create your perfect day. They also have a team of chefs who can provide a range of catering options, from an informal finger buffet to a five-course wedding breakfast.

The barn, situated adjacent to the hotel means that your guests can enjoy the courtyard gardens for your arrival drinks, but then have all of your friends and family in one place. The barn is an excellent blank canvas – you can decorate and personalise it exactly as you want to.

The suite used for bridal prep is spacious, and your hair stylist and make-up artist will love the natural light coming through the windows.

After your chosen ceremony, the courtyard offers an ideal space for arrival drinks, it’s also a part of the day I love to photograph; lots of happy, relaxed people all mingling and talking to each other.

Inside the barn there is a dance floor at one end, a bar at the other, and a large space in the middle for your top table and other tables. It can be set up to make sure that all of your guests can enjoy your speeches and toast throughout.

The ceiling of the barn is covered in fairy lights, which provide the perfect backdrop for beautiful photographs of your first dance. Beyond the dance floor, the doors open onto the wide garden at the rear – this allows for people to spend the evening reception either dancing into the night, relaxing and talking with friends and family outside – or a mixture of both!

If you’re looking for a Barnsdale Lodge Wedding Photographer, I’d love to hear your plans and see how I will fit in – get in touch today.
