I’ve been photographing weddings in Leicestershire for years now, and I know these venues really well; where the best light falls at Bridge House Barn, which quiet corners work perfectly at Brooksby Hall, how each season transforms the character of these spaces. That familiarity means I can anticipate moments before they happen and work around a venue’s quirks without missing a beat. Having said that, my documentary approach lends itself to any venue; I absolutely love working at new venues!

But knowing a venue well doesn’t mean much if the approach is wrong. I work in a purely documentary style, which means I’m not there to orchestrate your day or pull you away from your guests for endless photo sessions. I’m there to capture what actually happens; the unscripted laughter, the tears during the vows, the moment your dad sees you for the first time – in a genuine way, not an orchestrated film set where everyone feels uncomfortable.

You’ll barely notice me. I move quietly, I don’t interrupt, and I certainly don’t ask people to “act natural” (because that’s the least natural thing you can ask someone to do). Instead, I blend into your day, build trust with your guests through friendly chat, and when something beautiful unfolds, I’m ready.

The result? Photos that feel like your day, not like a photoshoot. When you look back through your gallery, I don’t want you to think “remember when Barnaby told us to stand there and look wistfully into the distance”; I want you to think “remember when that happened!”
