Wedding Venues in Leicestershire

Leicestershire sits right on Rutland’s doorstep, and I’ve had the pleasure of photographing weddings at some truly wonderful venues across the county. From converted barns tucked away in rolling countryside to elegant manor houses with centuries of history, there’s something genuinely special about the wedding venues here.

Being a Leicestershire wedding photographer, what strikes me most about Leicestershire weddings is how diverse they are. You might have an intimate barn celebration one weekend and a grand country house wedding the next, but they all share that same warm, welcoming atmosphere. Couples here seem to focus on what actually matters; celebrating with the people they love.

As a documentary wedding photographer, I work exclusively in an unposed style. That means no awkward group shots eating into your day, no forced smiles, and definitely no interrupting your celebration to stage photos. I’m there to capture the real story; the laughter during speeches, the quiet moments between you and your partner, and all the chaos and joy of the dance floor.

If you’re getting married at a Leicestershire venue and want your day captured honestly and beautifully, I’d love to hear from you. Take a look at some of the weddings I’ve photographed below, and if you like what you see, get in touch. I promise to be the least photographer-y photographer you’ve ever met.

Why Choose a Leicestershire Wedding Venue?

Leicestershire offers something that’s increasingly hard to find; genuine character without the pretension. You get stunning venues at more reasonable price points than London or the Cotswolds, beautiful countryside settings that feel private and personal, and a warmth that runs through everything here.

The variety of venues is remarkable. You can find everything from intimate converted barns perfect for 50 guests to grand country estates that handle 200+ without breaking a sweat. Many venues have been family-run for generations, bringing that personal touch that makes such a difference on your wedding day.

What I notice most when photographing weddings in Leicestershire is how relaxed everyone seems. Couples genuinely enjoy their day rather than treating it like a photoshoot. That authentic energy makes my job so much easier; and your photos infinitely better. When people aren’t thinking about the camera, that’s when the real magic happens.

The practical side works brilliantly too. Most Leicestershire venues have excellent accommodation nearby, straightforward access from major routes, and experienced teams who’ve perfected the art of running a smooth wedding day. They know exactly how to handle everything from unpredictable weather to last-minute changes, which means you can actually relax and enjoy yourself.

If you’re drawn to somewhere that feels genuine rather than showy, Leicestershire delivers.. The venues here have substance; real history, real character, real warmth. Take a look through the venues below and you’ll see exactly what I mean.

My Approach to Leicestershire Wedding Photography

I’ve been photographing weddings in Leicestershire for years now, and I know these venues really well; where the best light falls at Bridge House Barn, which quiet corners work perfectly at Brooksby Hall, how each season transforms the character of these spaces. That familiarity means I can anticipate moments before they happen and work around a venue’s quirks without missing a beat. Having said that, my documentary approach lends itself to any venue; I absolutely love working at new venues!

But knowing a venue well doesn’t mean much if the approach is wrong. I work in a purely documentary style, which means I’m not there to orchestrate your day or pull you away from your guests for endless photo sessions. I’m there to capture what actually happens; the unscripted laughter, the tears during the vows, the moment your dad sees you for the first time – in a genuine way, not an orchestrated film set where everyone feels uncomfortable.

You’ll barely notice me. I move quietly, I don’t interrupt, and I certainly don’t ask people to “act natural” (because that’s the least natural thing you can ask someone to do). Instead, I blend into your day, build trust with your guests through friendly chat, and when something beautiful unfolds, I’m ready.

The result? Photos that feel like your day, not like a photoshoot. When you look back through your gallery, I don’t want you to think “remember when Barnaby told us to stand there and look wistfully into the distance”; I want you to think “remember when that happened!”

If that sounds like the kind of wedding photography you’re after, have a look through the Leicestershire weddings below. You’ll get a feel for how this approach works in practice.

Planning your Leicestershire Wedding

One of the great things about Leicestershire venues is how accessible they are. Most are within easy reach of Leicester, Loughborough, and Melton Mowbray, with straightforward access from major routes. That means your guests won’t spend hours navigating country lanes or stressing about finding the venue.

Many of the venues I photograph here have strong relationships with local suppliers, which makes planning significantly smoother. They’ll often recommend caterers, florists, and celebrants they’ve worked with countless times, taking a lot of guesswork out of the process. These aren’t random suggestions; they’re people the venue team trusts to deliver consistently excellent service.

From a photography perspective, Leicestershire venues tend to have wonderful natural light and plenty of space; both indoors and out. That means whether it’s pouring with rain or gloriously sunny, there are always options for beautiful, natural photos without needing elaborate lighting setups or dragging everyone outside when they’d rather be enjoying themselves.

Accommodation is rarely an issue either. Most venues either have on-site options or reliable hotels and B&Bs nearby. Your guests won’t be scrambling for somewhere to stay or worrying about taxis at the end of the night; practical details that actually matter when you’re planning a celebration.

If you’re considering a Leicestershire wedding and want honest advice about venues, I’m always happy to chat through what I’ve learned from shooting here. No pressure, just genuine insight from someone who’s photographed most of them multiple times. I’m also right next door in Rutland, so if you’re looking at venues across both counties, I can help with that too.

Frequently asked questions about Leicestershire wedding photography

Getting married comes with unique questions. I’ve answered the most common questions I get to ensure your day is seamless and your photos are stunning.

My packages start at £2150 for full-day documentary coverage, including all edited images with no hidden costs. There are no extra travel charges for Leicestershire; it’s on my doorstep.

You’re booking over a decade of experience, 16 international awards, and someone who knows these venues well. More importantly, you’re getting a relaxed presence on your day—no endless posing, just genuine moments captured beautifully.

Check my pricing page for full details, or get in touch to chat about your plans.

Absolutely! I cover all Leicestershire wedding venues with no travel fees—it’s all included in my packages. I’m based just over the border in Rutland, so Leicestershire is right on my doorstep. I’ve photographed weddings across the county, from intimate barn celebrations to grand country house affairs.

I also regularly photograph weddings across the wider East Midlands, including Rutland, Nottinghamshire, and Lincolnshire, so if you’re considering venues across multiple counties, I can help with that too.

I’d recommend booking as early as possible—ideally 12-18 months before your wedding date. Popular Leicestershire wedding venues and peak season dates (May-September, particularly Saturdays) tend to get snapped up quickly, so the earlier you secure your photographer, the better.

That said, I do sometimes have availability for weddings with shorter notice, especially midweek or during quieter months. If your date is coming up soon, it’s always worth getting in touch to check. I hate the thought of couples missing out on the photography style they want just because they assumed I’d be fully booked.

This is probably the question I get asked most, and I completely understand why; family photos matter. Whilst I am a dedicated documentary wedding photographer I always allow some time for a few (I suggest 5-6) formal family photos. I’ll arrange them with as minimul fuss as possible so you can get back to enjoying your day – and I can find the canapés.

You’ll typically receive between 400-600 fully edited images from a full-day wedding, though this varies depending on the length of your celebration and what actually happens.

If you’ve got a huge dancefloor party with a band, you’ll get more. If it’s a shorter, more intimate day, you might get slightly fewer—but it’s always comprehensive coverage of everything that matters.

Every single image is professionally edited and delivered in high resolution through a private online gallery, usually within 6-8 weeks of your wedding. You’ll have full printing rights, so you can create albums, order prints, or share photos with family without any restrictions or additional costs from me.

I don’t artificially limit numbers or hold back photos to upsell you later—that’s just weird. You get everything that tells your story properly. I also don’t pad the gallery with near-identical shots or keep blurry mistakes just to hit a number. Quality over quantity, but you’ll never feel shortchanged.
