Ed’s Hilltop Tent Wedding Photographer

As a documentary wedding photographer, I love venues that give couples the freedom to make their day completely their own. Ed’s Hilltop Tent is exactly that. Tucked away between Oakham and Stamford, it’s a blank canvas marquee set in the grounds of a farm. Every couple brings their own personality to the space, and that’s what makes photographing weddings here such a joy. No two are the same — and that’s just how I like it.

Your Ed’s Hilltop Tent Wedding Photographer

Ed’s Hilltop Tent is a rustic marquee with wide open countryside views. Unlike a traditional barn or hotel wedding venue, it’s flexible and relaxed, with couples free to shape the space however they like. Whether that’s long banquet tables, street food trucks, or a festival-style party, the tent adapts to every idea. For me as a photographer, that variety is a dream. My style is about capturing real moments as they happen, and Ed’s Hilltop Tent always brings plenty of those.

From Normanton Church to the tent

Many couples choose to combine a classic Rutland ceremony at Normanton Church with a relaxed reception at Ed’s Hilltop Tent. It’s the perfect pairing: the timeless backdrop of the church on Rutland Water, followed by a marquee party in the countryside. It means I get to capture the elegance of the ceremony and then the energy of the celebration, all in one day.

Food, Music and Atmosphere | Ed’s Hilltop Tent Wedding Photographer

Weddings at Ed’s Hilltop Tent often have incredible food and entertainment, and that’s a big part of what makes the atmosphere so good. I’ve photographed oyster shuckers, fresh lobster, slow-cooked lamb and more, all served up in the relaxed setting of a marquee lunch. Guests gather, eat, laugh, and the whole thing feels more like a summer celebration than a formal sit-down. Later in the evening, the tent transforms into a dance floor, and that’s where the real party happens. Music spills out across the fields, the lights glow against the black canvas, and everyone lets loose.

For me, those are the moments that matter: people enjoying the music, sharing food, laughing at speeches, and throwing themselves into the party. They’re the photos couples love most when they look back — the ones that bring the day rushing back in detail.
